Project Overview
Bronson assembled a multi-disciplinary team, including a Cloud Architect, Project Manager, and Tableau specialists, to assistEnterprise-Level Server Migration Services for Educational Institutions in migrating their Tableau Server from a Bronson-managed AWS cloud instance to a Microsoft Azure platform. This project required extensive consultation and coordination with various Saskatchewan Polytechnic departments, including IT Services, Applications and Integration Development, and Applications Development.
To carry out this work, the Bronson team completed the following tasks:
- Gained an understanding of the enterprise-level server migration services for educational institutions environment and requirements;
- Created a staging and production environment within Saskatchewan Polytechnic’s Azure tenant;
- Performed a backup of the AWS Tableau server, transferred it to Azure’s staging environment, and conducted testing;
- Conducted a final backup of the AWS Production Tableau server and migrated it to Azure’s production environment;
- Performed post migration monitoring and tweaking as required; and
- Provided project management services throughout the duration of the contract to ensure a smooth and efficient transition.

Our Solution and Impact
The Bronson team started by understanding the Polytechnic environment and its specific needs. We then established staging and production environments within the Azure tenant. We carefully backed up the AWS Tableau server and transferred it to Azure’s staging environment for testing. After successful testing, we performed a final backup of the AWS Production Tableau server and migrated it to Azure’s production environment. Following the migration, we closely monitored the setup and made adjustments as required. Throughout the contract duration, the team provided comprehensive project management services to ensure a smooth and efficient transition process.
